Measure from the base of the toilet to the back wall, not to the trim.  Give the measurement to the supplier to be assured that the new toilet will fit.

2. Unpack new toilet

After unpacking, check to make sure there are no missing parts.

Removing old toilet

1. Remove tank lid
2.Turn off water

Turn off the water at the valve on the fill supply line.

3. Drain water from tank

Hold down the flush lever until most of the water drains out.  Remove any remaining water with a sponge.

4. Remove water from bowl

Using a disposal cup, remove the water in the bowl wearing rubber gloves.  Remove remaining water with a sponge.

5. Disconnect water supply line

Remove the supply line attached to the tank at the tank end of the line.

6. Remove flange bolt nuts

After removing the plastic caps, using an adjustable or end wrench, remove the flange bolt nuts and washers.  If the nuts  cannot be removed due to corrosion, cut the bolts just below the nut with a hack saw.

7. Remove toilet

Rock the toilet while lifting it off the flange and place it on the floor over a towel.

 8. Remove wax ring from flange

Using a putty knife, remove the wax ring from the flange.  Cover the drain opening with a rag to prevent sewer gases from escaping.
